Picks of the Week

Texas 34 - Missouri 21

Oklahoma 28 - Kansas 24  It will be interesting to see how OU does once again with Landry Jones as their starting QB.  This time though, it’s looking like he is going to have the job for the rest of the season.  Both teams are coming off a tough loss the week before and will be looking to get back on track

Texas a&m 17 - Texas Tech 52  Another blow out in Lubbock.  Mike Leach will make sure that the aggies not only lose, but really feel their loss.  The spread was 21.5 and I bet on Tech covering so lets hope they at least do that.

TCU 17 - BYU 21 Battle of who’s best in the Mountain West.  TCU will be up against a BYU team who dropped the ball on their last big game against Florida St a few weeks ago.

Tennessee 17 - Alabama 27 The crimson tide are still on top of my polls and I think this week they’ll grab another W.

Oregon St. 14 - USC 28 Oregon St put that one loss on USC’s record last year that prevented them from going to the National Championship game and potentially grabbing another crystal football.  That won’t happen again this year, with USC looking for a little bit of revenge from last year, and I think they will get it.

College Football Top 25 Week 6

Here is my top 25 for week 6.  Pretty boring week this week in college football.  Only ranked teams to lose were those who lost to higher ranked teams.

1. Alabama
2. Florida
3. Texas
4. Virgina Tech
5. USC
6. Cincinnati
7. Miami
8. LSU
9. Ohio St.
10.  Boise St.
11. Iowa
12. TCU
13.  Oregon
14. Nebraska
15.  Penn St.
16. Kansas
17. Ok. St.
18. BYU
19. Oklahoma
20. Georgia Tech
21. South Carolina
22. South Florida
23. Notre Dame
24. Houston
25. Missouri

Yes, Texas is out of the top two.  With the way we played last week and Florida who beat LSU in Tiger Stadium, it was impossible for me to rank us above them.  This weekend against OU will be a big test for our team.  Hook em!

Also I was 4/6 on my picks for last week.  Stupid coaching on Missouri’s part let Nebraska take the lead in the 4th quarter.  Also the LSU-Florida game was a disappointment.  The game was very defense driven and only one touchdown was scored.  It did show how strong Florida’s defense and how they can still dominate a game even with a weak Tim Tebow.

Picks of the Week

So along with my college football polls every week, I have also decided to post my picks.

Colorado 10 - Horns 52 Hook Em’ Baby!

Missouri 31 - Nebraska 28  This may be more wishful thinking since we play Missouri and if Missouri wins then when the Horns beat them, it’ll make us look even better.  It’s gonna be close though, Missouri’s surprising offense against Nebraska’s d-line.  Should be interesting.

Ok St. 24 - Tex a&m 17  After struggling offensively against Arkansas last week, a&m has a lot to improve.  This will also be Ok. St’s first game without Dez Bryant, so their offensive firepower will be down to a min.  But I still see Ok St. coming on top.

LSU 35 - Florida 32 it’s hard to call this game without knowing the status of Tim Tebow.  But I think with Tebow coming back from his injury and the power that the LSU fans have in Death Valley, LSU is gonna pull the upset and come up on top.

Alabama 48 - Ole Miss 24  A struggling Jevon Snead will be no match against this top defense.  Alabama is still my number one team in the nation.

Iowa 28 - Michigan 17  My early pick as the team to be surprised by, Michigan lost all its hopes after losing to Michigan St. last week.  They will have a tough time this weekend against the Hawkeyes especially after that impressive win against Penn St two weeks ago in University Park.

There are my 6 picks for the week.  We’ll see how I do.

College Football Top 25 Week 5

So I have decided to make this a weekly thing, and post my college football top 25.  Quite a change this week from the last

1. Alabama
2. Texas
3. Florida
4.  LSU
5. Virginia Tech
6. USC
7. Cincinnati
8. Boise St.
9. Miami
10. Iowa
11. TCU
12. Ohio St.
13. Oregon
14. Oklahoma St.
15. Penn St.
16. Kansas
17. BYU
18. Oklahoma
19. Auburn
20. Nebraska
21. Ole Miss
22. Georgia Tech
23. Missouri
24. South Florida
25. Georgia

Right now I truly believe that Alabama has the best team in the nation.  I do believe that Texas has a better all-around team and a stronger offense, but until we have a few consistent games of top notch playing, Alabama will be ahead in my polls.  Florida has shown that they are a team to beat, but in these last few weeks they have also shown that they are vulnerable, and after really analyzing their offense and defense I believe that Alabama will beat them in the SEC championship, but we’ll see what happens.  It is still very early in the season.

Hook Em Horns

Austin City Limits.

Just ended a great weekend.  Highlights were definitely seeing the Broken Social Scene after show at the old Austin power plant, dancing to the The Airborne Toxic Event in the rain, and Ghostland Observatory.

I know this year just ended, but I already can’t wait for the next.  SXSW will have to hold me over I guess.

Also got to see Mates of States again last week.  I can’t describe with words how amazing they are in concert.  If you ever have an opportunity to go see them, definitely take advantage of it.
